Windy Meads Hunt and Novelty Shoot (EVENT CANCELLED)

Sunday March 22nd, 2020
Davis, California

Greetings to all of the wonderful populace of the West Kingdom.

As many of you may have read already, Their Majesties have made a decision to cancel the March Crown Tournament and all other events that are larger than a local practice. This is a decision that was made with much thought. The Officers of the West Kingdom and Myself are in support of this decision. We are working diligently on finding solutions to many questions being asked and are working hard to bring the populace of the West Kingdom events that are fun for all but also as safe as reasonably possible. We will be closely monitoring the situation regarding the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Kingdom of the West and will be making decisions about events and other gatherings based on availability medical information, state and local health agency recommendations, and guidelines.
Once again I ask that you have patience and understanding in this unusual time.

In the spring a young one’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of … Archery! The season is here! Young and not-so-young alike - grab your bow and join us under the trees of Yolo County’s premier forest for our annual Hunt and Novelty Shoot! Life-size 3-D foam animals sheltering under the trees await your arrows. Watch out for that 9-foot grizzly! Can you hit the enemy fighters popping up from behind the barricade or that giant red dragon flying across the field? Targets suitable for beginners to champions will be in the mix. Youth and novice archers are encouraged to join in the fun and some loaner gear will be available. No compound bows (SCA rules) or crossbows (Club rules).

Not interested in shooting? Join us anyway and work on your project under the trees.

Lunch will be pot-luck — salad or main dish – Shire will provide dessert. Shooting is expected to be complete about 4:00 PM.

Closed-toed shoes are highly recommended, the grass is loaded with barbs, burrs, bugs, and can be uneven.

Pets: Dogs are welcome on site, but must be on a leash. Please also be aware and take into account there are wild critters on site. Mostly lizards, squirrels, and a variety birds.

If manually entering the address use the Grasslands Regional Park address: "Mace Blvd & Tremont Rd, Davis, CA 95618". The listed address for Yolo Bowmen when entered will take you half a mile south of the site.
